How Can One Know

The True Impact of Current Events

The News and Critical Thought

We all formulate an opinion of the news based on our political, social, and philosophical worldview. We have different reactions to news and news opinion, particularly political opinion, depending on our own very personal worldview. We should remember to view the news and it's associated opinion pieces without our "ideological glasses" on. We should attempt to consider the other perspective(s) before making a judgment.

It is the intent of this website's BLOG to review current events in this common-sense fashion. Though the authors and contributors to the BLOG may have a view that opposes yours, make the effort to understand their view prior to making comments.

What's the risk?  The risk is trapping ourselves into using thoughtless rhetoric without regard for the potential merits of a different or opposing view. Though we may not agree, we should be able to at least consider another opinion with due respect prior to formulating our opinion of an event, person, or comment.

We should not allow ourselves to be manipulated by current dominant populist opinion from others who share our worldview, but we should think critically, challenging our predisposed worldview to determine a proper stance on the events and politics that affect our lives.

In other words, keep an open mind.

Thinking critically may not be as easy or fun as the "political football" played by most pundits, but it is effectively more rewarding.

With this in mind, you may not agree with posts in the BLOG, but you can make comments accordingly therein.
